October 1, 2008 - Toronto based Constellation Software has acquired the FleetFocus™ software suite from MAXIMUS.  The new division of Constellation will be called AssetWorks. Existing Fleet Group, Inc. customers currently using the MAXIMUS FleetFocus™ maintenance software can rest assured that we will continue to provide the same great services that we provided in the past.  AssetWorks president John H. Icy Bay Leasing a subsidiary of Chenega Corporation headquartered in Anchorage, AK retains Fleet Group to assist in developing maintenance policies and procedures that follow the ISO 9001 Certification. These Policies and Procedures are to be for all of its divisions to use concerning their growing fleet of vehicles. Other areas that will be addressed are Safety, Security, and DOT mandates.

In a gutsy move by upper management, Michels Pipeline Corporation has selected Fleet Group to implement their  FleetFocus M5 software in the field for first time.  To complicate matters, the software will be deployed outside the US.  A spokesman for Michels Corporation indicated that Michels has been so pleased with the performance of the Fleet Group consultants assigned to their local deployment, that they have decided to implement the software on an actual job site.  This is the first time that a company has tried to implement FleetFocus M5 on the actual "Right of Way" in a construction application.  Fleet Group consultants will assist local pipeline staff in Brandon, MB during the months of August and September.

Many state and local governments are beginning to pass regulations designed to encourage vehicle maintenance facilities to become more environmentally friendly or "Green".  In some cases, companies may be unaware of new legislation that can affect the way they do business thus exposing them to unnecessary fines or even worse - environmental risks to employees and customers alike.  To help answer this need, Fleet Group is proud to announce the launch of the Fleet Group Green Initiative.  The Green Initiative is a series of on-line self assessment questionnaires designed to help companies determine how “Green”  their facilities are.  Companies can assess their own preparedness based on the assement scores and if needed, Fleet Group consultants can recommend a course of action to ensure environmental compliance.  To access these questionnaires, go to the “Green Facility” section from our home page.

In response to customer requests, Fleet Group is proud to announce the fifth installment in its FMTS training series - Basic Electrical Training. Many fleet managers have expressed concerns that their mechanics and technicians are still using the old “Test Light” for electrical diagnostics in the modern truck chassis.  Using a test light in today's modern wiring harness can not only damage the electronics, but it can be potentially fatal to the technician due to high voltages. The technicians tell us that because they lack the basic knowledge of electricity and electrical circuits, and are not comfortable using Digital Multimeter's, they are ill equipped to diagnose and repair electrical systems in the modern truck.  Fleet Group has developed this new training course to address exactly these types of issues and concerns. The course is approximately two days long and provides a basic working knowledge of the following topics:

·         Understand basic electrical concepts of voltage, current, and resistance

·         Demonstrate an understanding of electrical system precautions and safety

·         Identify and properly use required electrical testing tools - Voltmeter, Ammeter and Ohmmeter

·         Identify resistors, diodes, SPST switches, DPDT switches and relays

·         Identify schematic symbols

·         Understand Voltage drops

·         Use Ohm’s Law to identify Voltage, Current, Resistance and Power

Due in no small measure to their proven track record and wealth of fleet experience, Fleet Group, Inc. has been selected to explore the potential for FleetFocus M5 to be used in a construction environment.  Although FleetFocus has traditionally been used in fleet maintenance and transportation facilities, the potential for a much broader application exists for the software. Two Fleet Group consultants will meet with key personnel at Michels Pipeline Corporation - a privately owned multinational construction company based Brownsville WI, to analyze the potential use of the application in the construction industry.  The main Michels facility consists of 28 separate business units on a 120 acre campus.  The physical parts inventory appears to be the biggest challenge to overcome.  The two Fleet Group consultants will asses the deployment needs over a one month period and make recommendations to Michels and to MAXIMUS based on their findings.  Should Michels decide that the software is a good match for their business needs, Fleet Group will play an integral part in the software deployment, end user training and support, and process development.

Showing their confidence in Fleet Group, MAXIMUS has selected Fleet Group to perform a 3 day software demo of their FleetFocus application for the City of Boulder, CO.  Two consultants will demo the software for key decision makers and fleet personnel as they consider a replacement for their existing software package.  Should MAXIMUS win the bid for the new software, Fleet Group will also provide the end user training and the deployment support for the migration to the new software.

Fleet Maintenance Manager and Supervisor Seminar

This one day course will provide the managers and supervisors of any maintenance organization with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful leaders. Some of the topics covered during this information packed 8 hours are: effective communication, time management techniques, effective delegation, decision making, recruiting and interviewing techniques, understanding and working with budgets, working with KPI's, and methods for better customer satisfaction.

Preventive Maintenance Inspection Training

With all the changes in the equipment and electronics in the trucking industry, it is more important than ever to keep up with the changes in the PM process of this new equipment. Fleet Group became aware of the shortage of quality PM training for the trucking industry, and as a result, has developed a 2½ day Preventive Maintenance course that is held at the customer’s site. This localized training allows the technician to learn in an environment where he/she is the most comfortable, and on equipment that is familiar to him/her. The course can also be custom designed to fit the needs of the individual client. This course also helps new hires learn how to perform a proper PM, and provides the client with a working checklist of what needs to be covered during a good PM inspection.

Fleet Group is contracted by Four Seasons Produce to conduct a Maintenance Analysis of their maintenance facilities. When conducting the analysis, Fleet Group will observe PM processes, warranty procedures, ordering of parts, inventory management and other day to day maintenance processes. Once the analysis is completed a detailed report will be presented to the client with the issues, observations and recommendations that were observed during the analysis.

Fleet Group has signed a second phase agreement with Alan Ritchey, Inc (ARI) to implement processes in regards to workflow and purchasing.  We will be training their personnel in these new processes. Back in July of 2005, ARI selected Fleet Group to implement Process Improvement Recommendations which were identified during the Maintenance Analysis that was performed by Fleet Group in June of 2005. After following through with those recommendations, the newly defined processes/procedures will be documented and the software will be set to achieve the desired functionality. End users will be trained on the newly defined processes for purchasing and workflow in the shop.
